Restore backup to new Iphone6

I manually backed up my iPhone 5 on my mac desktop… then restored the backup to new iPhone 6. But my mac keeps wanting to do the backup and doesn't seem to recognize the new phone? Suggestions? Thank you.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Hi Mo Rivers,

I'm wondering if you had your iPhone 5 backed up to iCloud as well? One thing you can try is restore your iPhone 6 as a new device initially. Then turn on your iCloud account so that all of your data (contacts, calendars, notes, photo stream, etc.) are accessible on the new iPhone.

Thank you. I restored as "new phone" after the restore backup... the computer immediately recognized it and actually downloaded all the remaining apps, too. Appreciate the advice. All is well in sync land again. Also, Love the new IPhone 6!
