iPhone 5 is not recognised on iTunes on my windows PC however it still charges

need help sap!!

my original phone stuffed up wasn't able to turn it on went to Apple they gave me a new one. So now I need to restore it but my iTunes is not recognising my iPhone 5 at all but it still charges the phone. I've tried using different cables and turning on and off both devices but no luck. Every time Ive plugged in the cable to the phone the comp makes 2 sounds (when you plug in usb and it connects and disconnect sound). I have a windows vista 7 and update iTunes and iPhone iOS. I've tied uninstalled and reinstalling iTunes too and that doesn't work either
