A GAME I HAVE HAS CRASHED HOW DO I FIX IT?

I have installed starters knights of the old republic to my mac air, it has been working perfectly until now, the game loads saved games even starts a new game, however the character will not move as if the corresponding key for movement isn't working. how do I fix this?
