require this code.. I used this device for two weeks on regular routine, then left town for a fortnight to return and charge battery. Tried to log in using thumb print, no joy. Needed four digit or letter code.. now disabled.. this *****.

Setting the four digit code was a necessary action when you set up the iPad. Its use instead of the fingerprint ID is necessary after the iPad has been powered down.

Great, but my unit is disabled.. for how long I do not know.. Trying to restore thru Tunes.. Tom
