quicktime no audio in 10.10 but audio in 10.9

I have an iMac that is running 10.10.2 and I have quicktime 7.7.6 and 7.7.3 as well as the quicktime x that came with the 10.10 OS.

On my macbook that is running mac os x 10.9 I have the same quicktime file. when I open it, it has sound. SO I thought that maybe the file that I have on my 10.10 iMac maybe corrupt. SO I connected to my macbook thru my iMac and transfered it over to my iMac. It downloaded and I clicked on it and what do you know, NO SOUND!! It was a .mov file when I first downloaded it 3 years ago, but I saved it as a .mov file in quicktime and it worked in all os x updates until 10.10. I have VLC, M Player X, Flip for mac, and perian. I just can't get this file to play audio
