my macbook air makes static when the speakers are on or off

My macbook air makes a noise like static. This is constant and can be heard with the speakers on or off.

It would seem you need to make an appointment at the genius bar to have it looked at as this is not normal. Looking at it is free.

Does the static noise happen when a mobile phone is near the computer? If that happens, the phone may be interfering and must be moved away from the speakers. However, this type of problem isn't often seen with MacBooks, so in that way it is unusual.

mobile phones do not sem to make a difference. the noise is sporadic, just like going to the doctor, as soon as i posted my question, the noise stopped. but it does happen with some frequency. thanks for you help
