My Thunderbolt display sound has quit working…!!!

My Thunderbolt display sound has quit working after a mandatory update for iTunes to synch my phone. What happened? I can't select "Display Audio". It bounces to headphones, etc.

Thunderbolt 27" display-OTHER, OSX 10.8.5

unplug head phone see what happens. Its not automatic when you plug in head phones.
