Video size to embed in Powerpoint

I need to embed a 3 minutes video into a powerpoint presentation. What size, bit rate, codec, etc should I use?

the pixel dimensions should match the display device used to show PowerPoint

use H264 CODEC

yes H264 will play on any Windows machine from the last 10 years

the larger issue with embedding movies (at our shop) is most PP users fail to understand where the movie files need to be saved for the links to remain active and for playback to be smooth. You want to make sure your PP client knows how this movie stuff works.
