Why is unselected music syncing to my iPhone?

I am extremely frustrated and can use some help. I have music in my iTunes library (not sure how it got there) and even though it is NOT checked it is syncing to my iPhone and taking up space. I can't seem to get rid of it. I always have the 'selected playlists, artists, genres' selected. I have 'sync only checked songs and videos'. I do NOT have the WIFI sync selected. Home Sharing is NOT turned on. I have already totally wiped all music off my phone and then started over with syncing and it is still putting music on my phone for which I have not selected. What am I doing wrong? HELP! Thanks!

  • Is Manually manage music and videos in iTunes unchecked? This overrides syncing if it is checked.
  • Do the tracks on your phone that you don't want have a cloud icon? If they do then they are not on your phone, they are just available for download if you want them. If you don't want to see them go to Settings/Music and turn off Show all music.
