Bluetooth headset: When I select the bluetooth headset mic as the system INPUT in sound prefs, the stereo music playback suddenly becomes poor monaural. Help!

When I change the Sound prefs INPUT back to the iMac built-in microphone, the great stereo returns to the bluetooth headset.

Note: This flaw does not occur on my iPhone 5S

late 2012 iMac 27", 3.4 GHz Intel i7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB Fusion drive, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024 MB, OSX 10.9.5 latest
