My Macbook pro won't let me download adobe flash player

Hello. Just received this laptop 3 days ago. I've tried to get on my schoolwork on my MacBook Pro 13' Retina. It says I need to download Adobe Flash Player. I started the download then at 98%, it says "Safari" must be closed and it is closed. I tried opening Safari and closing it again. But it did the same thing. Any suggestions? Thanks!
