New trackpad - broken and blemished?

Hi there,

I bought a brand new Apple Magic Trackpad straight from Amazon the other day. When it arrived today I noticed an unremovable 'blemish' spot on the brushed aluminium front which is rather annoying. In addition to this, there is some kind of irremovable faint marking on the surface of the trackpad itself, in a completely random pattern. It is viewable under a specific angle of light. I would expect this on a trackpad that had been used for a while, but a brand new one...? Furthermore, the left click corner is a lot less responsive / tactile than clicking everywhere else.

What would you guys advise me to do? Are these things normal?

If the mouse was brand new, as you say, packed in a box in its original unmarked condition, despatched from and supplied by Amazon ... negotiate with Amazon for an exchange at no cost to you. If it came from a third party other than Apple, you would have to report it to Amazon through their A-Z claim process.

'If it came from a third party other than Apple' well yes, technically it was sold and dispatched by Amazon, not Apple. But it was in its original packaging, unopened, sealed. And not via a seller on the Amazon Marketplace.

What do you mean, technically. It was either sold and dispatched by Amazon or it was sold and dispatched by a third party though ordered through Amazon's services. As you say the latter does not apply, then your recourse is directly to Amazon.
