I get an error message when I try to udate Software ios 8.1.3 to myi iPad mini

Are you trying to update OTA or via iTunes? What is the exact wording of the error message?

OTA the message (software iOS 8.1.3 update failed). It's 244mb. I have 4.0gb of available storage space.
That's all, update failed? No error number? You can try again, but I would try connecting to the computer and iTunes and update that way. Be quicker, and you don't need any space on the iPad and the extraction is done on the computer.
