My MacPro 3,1 computer name changes

I have a early 2008 MacPro. When I try to connect to it from my MacBook Pro over my network (Time Capsule, latest version), the name of the computer changes and shows as "MacPro (9)" Sometimes I see multiple versions of my MacPro under the shared listing of the Finder. They all have a different number in the parenthesis. Any idea what is going on here?
