my mac book pro 10.6.8 monitor just turn blue and cant open any apps

my macbookpro 10.6.8 13inc 2009 monitor turn blue and i cannot used any application..only if i go to apple icon on top and go to apps and open it from der like firefox..but i cannot used any of the application and i don't have also my recovery disk..what will i do?..i wanted to rebbot it..bec it might be the only thing to do.
