1. You do not have enough free disk space: empty the trash, remove at least 30 GB from this disk to elsewhere, do not use any cleaners, just by hand.

There is no immediate need to upgrade Ram. If you want to do that, make sure you have the normal speed back and no issues anymore.

2. update Mavericks.

3. set SystemPreferences->Security->General to at least "MacAppStore and IdentifiedDevelopers".

3. Uninstall Chrome completely, see point 7.

4. I am not sure from where is ...gct.driver.gdmuwm... and ...gct.dts.gdme2dn.... and ...qvod.agent... but I could not find any trustworthy source: uninstall that software.

5. In MacintoshHD->Library->LaunchDaemons delete the ....adobe switchboard.... entry.

6. If you are not really need the NTFS driver and the VOX application, uninstall those and then remove them from the SystemPreferences.

7. If you can not, absolutely not live without Chrome reinstall when your issues are gone. Better and safer browsers are Safari, Opera, Firefox.

Peter,

memory and disk space are enough.

The "unknown" softwares are still there.

I have some questions:

Q1. did you ever use tools like CleanMyMac for cleaning of the system? If yes what did you do with those?

Q2. the Eltima software is known to cause some issues sometimes, do you really need it or can you uninstall it.

Q3. Why do you have NTFS drivers installed? (OSX can read NTFS formatted drives, but not write those).

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

View Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.

Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.

Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Hello guys, I googled for the solution of interface laggy online, and they suggested me to open the Autocad then close it. Surprisingly, it works for me, I don't know how was the trick works, but whoever suspected their MacBook Pro performing slow because of the laggy interface, you guys can try open the Autocad. 🙂 Not to forget, thanks for the help from Lex, Jusola and LInc Davis.

I've suddenly found myself in the same boat as others where I once had a smooth running Macbook Pro that is now (within the last few days) suddenly running slow. I've been looking at posts and trying to follow some of the suggestions (like deleting CleanMyMac 2) but find my system still running slow. Here is my output from EtreCheck. Any help would be appreciated.

-- Can you do without the Wacom tablet?, If you can, uninstall that software.

-- In SystemPreferences->Users&Accounts->LoginItems take out all entries, with the minus sign. Start these apps only if you need them, and quit when you are ready: this goes especially for GoogleDrive and SugarSync.

-- GoogleContactAgent and Chrome are sloppy programmed, you should find an alternative for them.

happy computing,

Mar 19, 2015 6:54 AM in response to Lexiepex

Thanks Lex. I've removed all of the items you suggested. I completely removed Google Chrome and everything else listed but could not find GoogleContactAgent. I am not using just Safari as my primary browser and have restated my system. Start is very fast and everything seems to run much better. I will continue to monitor system performance and return to this forum should I experience any additional issues.

Thanks,

Tom
