I have a MacBook Pro retina running 10.10.2 and just purchased a 27" 5K. What is the best way to transfer data. I also have external hard drive and Time machine. Thanks. Joe

Please take a look at Migration Assistant, located on your Mac.....Applications > Utilities > Migration Assistant
Since Migration Assistant is part of the Yosemite (10.10.2) operating system, please post in the Yosemite support forum linked below for additional questions or help.
Thanks Bob. What about using Setup Assistant when I first boot up the 27 5K? And is it better to use an external drive to transfer?
Setup Assistant would be the better way to go, but you only get one chance at it, when you first power up the Mac. I assumed that you had already done this.
If you have already powered up the Mac, then you must use Migration Assistant.
Not sure what you mean by use an external drive to transfer. That might be a question for the experts over in the Yosemite forum, as we are drifting away from the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule.
OK Bob. I have not set up 27" 5K yet so Setup Assistant will be the way to go. I am not sure the vehicle to use to get data to 27" 5K? Do i use Airport Time Capsule or an external drive that I have all data for MacBook Pro?
I don't know whether Setup Assistant gives you the option to transfer from two different sources (A question for the Yosemite experts). If you have everything in a Time Machine backup, that would be the way to go.
