I have a MacBook Pro retina running 10.10.2 and just purchased a 27" 5K. What is the best way to transfer data. I also have external hard drive and Time machine. Thanks. Joe

Thanks. I will use Setup Assistant since the 27" 5K is new and have not booted it up yet and then use an external drive Time Machine that has backup of MacBook Pro. What do you think?
When you use Setup Assistant you should be asked to transfer from your MBP
"Setup Assistant opens the first time you start up a new Mac. It helps you enter your information about your network, and guides you through setting up a user account on your computer. Use it to transfer user accounts, settings, and documents from another computer to your Mac."
Instead of Time Machine why not use your current MBP as the source (providing you made a good backup and printed the directions to migration out)?
