You can backup an iPhone to iCloud or to a computer via iTunes: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203977

If you backup to a Mac computer using iTunes and that computer is using Time Machine to backup, then the iPhone backup stored on the computer would also be backed up via Time Machine.

There isn't a way to backup an iPhone directly to a Time Capsule or any external drive via Time Machine. See the following quote from Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support (note that OS X is the operating system used by Macintosh computers; the iPhone use the iOS operating system).

Time Machine is the built-in backup feature of OS X.
