Why are loops that once played now silent?

Going back to a project I was working on eight months or so ago, one of the orchestral loops, although clearly visible and visibly complete in the editor, no longer plays. The loop is still listed in the browser, and I've tried re-dragging it into the project, but although it looks fine, it still refuses to play. Any suggestions? Thanks.
