Strange Intermittent WiFi Connectivity

Good evening everyone,

I'd be extremely impressed if anyone can work this one out.

I have a BT Home HomeHub router which is connected to fibre-optic broadband. Recently, the WiFi has been dropping out on my Macbook (2014, retina, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 - Yosemite OS), and when it does the icon carries out its searching animation. Upon selecting my network and entering my password, the connection times out and it will not re-connect to the network. This is despite all other devices connected to the router working fine and not having any reported drops in connectivity.

I tried the following to fix the problem:

Reset PRAM

Forget the network and re-join

Manually add the network

Check the problem isn't with my ISP or router

I happened to find a temporary fix for this by mistake by syncing my iPhone with my Mac. Now, whenever the connection drops, I fix it by simply plugging in my iPhone.

Can anyone recommend how I can permanently fix this issue? Would restoring my router to default settings have any impact?

Thanks for your time.

Luke 🙂
