Booting up without the option key???

I have installed Windows 8.1 pro on my macbook pro 15" mid14.

I think I have installed the Windows successfully...

But now I need to boot my mac with pressing the option key, otherwise I get the error message

"No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key"

So now whether I want to boot onto OS X or Windows, I have to press the option key whilst booting.

Is this normal??

Are there any options where I can choose OS X to boot??

Thank you in advance.

Do you know if you installed Windows using EFI boot or the regular Bootcamp Assistant method?

Do you have Control Panel -> System -> Boot Camp? If yes, click on it and choose OSX and restart.

You can switch to Windows using System Preferences -> Startup Disk -> Bootcamp -> Restart.

Please also see Boot Camp: Set the default operating system.

The MBR (output of Fdisk) is corrupted. Please download http://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/ and install it.

Rebuild MBR to match the new GPT information thus resetting the Hybrid MBR.

Use defaults as suggested by Gdisk for other questions (for example Enter an MBR hex code (default AF): AF).

Sudo gdisk /dev/disk0

P (Print list of parts)

R (Recover)

H (chooses Hybrid)

Partitions numbers to be hybridized: 2 3 4

Y (Good for GRUB question)

N (part 2 boot flag)

N (part 3 boot flag)

Y (part 4 boot flag make NTFS bootable partition)

W (Write the new MBR)

Y (Yes! write the new MBR)

Reboot

The following example uses 0x'0C' for partition 4, but you need to use the default values that Gdisk suggests as it extracts them from the GPT side. it should be 0x'07'.

sudo gdisk /dev/disk1

GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 0.8.10

Warning: Devices opened with shared lock will not have their

partition table automatically reloaded!

Partition table scan:

MBR: hybrid

BSD: not present

APM: not present

GPT: present

Found valid GPT with hybrid MBR; using GPT.

OK; writing new GUID partition table (GPT) to /dev/disk1.

Warning: Devices opened with shared lock will not have their

Warning: The kernel may continue to use old or deleted partitions.

You should reboot or remove the drive.

Hi,

which version I need to install gptfdisk software?? I am having difficulties in installing gptfdisk software from the source.

If I am right, I am missing some dependencies. Do I need to install MacPort to install gptfdisk??

I have installed gptfdisk 0.8.0., since it did have pkg version.

However, I have this error.

dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: Symbol not found: __ZN3icu13UnicodeStringC1Ev

Referenced from: /usr/sbin/gdisk

Expected in: /usr/lib/libicucore.A.dylib

Thank you

The SourceForge link downloads 0.8.10 pkg. You do not need MacPorts.

I am on Yosemite
