okay so i've just bought an iphone 5c second hand and contacted the carrier to have it unlocked to a different network and after 5 days and no progress they have told me to contact apple but i really want this sorted as soon as possible can anyone help?

Apple cannot help you only the cell provider your iPhone is locked to can initiate the unlocking process.

They have told you wrong. They do not know what they are talking about or are giving you the runaround or both.
