How do I copy/drag and drop formulas while preserving format?

I would like to use the drag and drop option for copying a formula, but do not wish to overwrite the existing formatting (color) that is already in the cell. Is there a way to do that?

If the "drag and drop" part is essential then I would say your request is not possible. If, however, you are willing to use the copy command...

then you should:

- select the cell with the formula you want to propagate

- copy

- select the cell(s) where you want the formula, with existing formatting

- select the menu item "Edit > Paste and Match Style":

or you can also use the key combination:

<command> + <option> + <shift> + v

Thanks for the info--I searched the 3.6.1 Help but couldn't find what I needed. I was hoping for a way to "pull" a cell up (or down, depending) and bring the formula with it, as was possible in older version of Numbers. However, your tip will enable me to copy a formula in a cell to other cells, and that's the main thing. Thanks again!
