Cannot access photostream on new windows 8 computer

The photostream folder is empty although sharing and family photos are there. No problem on my old windows 7 computer. I did get a quick flash message saying trying to download one file but it was in an unsupported format. I have uninstalled and reinstalled icloud a couple of times but still not working. I notice on my iPhone and ipad that there is no longer a photostream folder just an all photos folder.

no problem with photos moving from ipad to iPhone and iPhone to ipad.

Howdy wendyfrou,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

From what I gather, you’re concerned because the My Photo Stream folder is empty on your PC and it no longer appears on your iOS devices. It sounds like you’ve enabled iCloud Photo Library beta which replaces Camera Roll and the My Photo Stream album with the All Photos album.

You can find more information about iCloud Photo Library Beta and answers to Frequently Asked Questions about it here:

iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support

What happened to the My Photo Stream and Camera Roll albums?

The Camera Roll and My Photo Stream album are replaced with an All Photos album, which gives you the same compact scroll view, now with all your photos and videos organized by the date they were added. Learn more about finding photos in iOS 8.

After you enable iCloud Photo Library, all your original photos and videos are organized in one library. My Photo Stream will upload recent photos to share with your other devices, but iCloud Photo Library stores your originals. See how to upload originals below.

Also, this article provides additional information about iCloud Photo Library beta usage that you may find helpful.

iCloud: Use iCloud Photo Library beta on your iOS device

Note: Go to the Photos app on iCloud.com to view your photos and videos on your Mac or Windows computer. Use the beta Photos app on iCloud.com.

Turn on iCloud Photo Library beta
