I want to make my own cards, but I can't get the horizontal & vertical card templates to get rid of the images already in there. I just want a blank card template. thanks

You may know what version of Pages you are referring to, or which templates, but you haven't told us.
On the off chance it is Pages 5.5.2 I just checked and can click on all the elements and delete them.
Only the Birthday card has locked elements:
click on them > Menu > Arrange > Unlock > delete
The menus mean what they say.

That was exactly the answer. I was using the birthday card. I appreciate your help. Maybe not your snarkiness so much, but thanks for taking the time to help this novice. Donna
