Before the introduction of iOS 8, once you deleted a photo from the Camera Roll it was gone forever. If you accidentally deleted a photo, you couldn’t get it back. However, the Photos app on the iPhone now has a Recently Deleted album.
When you delete a photo from the Camera Roll it gets moved to the Recently Deleted album. So if you change your mind about a deletion, you have thirty days to restore the image back into your Camera Roll.
