HELP! iMessage frozen after long message!

My friend's iMessage is frozen after I sent her a long message saying spam,spam,spam over and over again. We have deleted the message, but every time she turns her phone on it freezes and crashes, then restarts, and when she can get on it to actually do something, it is extremely slow and she can't open iMessage. We have deleted each other's contacts, blocked each other, and it has been turned off for about 15 minutes, but we are about to factory reset unless anyone can help!
