Airport Extreme bumping Airport Express off network?

Not sure what's causing this, but at seemingly random times my airport express is no longer able to extend my network. My express is only a couple years old. My main router is an Airport Extreme, but it's several years old.

The quickest fix to get my Express back on the network is to reboot my Airport Extreme. Which is odd. Seems like for some reason the Extreme is dropping it because it's not really out of range. Possible signal interference from other networks?

Has anyone else experienced something similar? All my wireless devices are Apple, with the exception of a Wii and PS3 that hardly get turned on.
