AVI & H.264 files

I have a CCTV file in AVI or H.264 but I can't open either on my Mac. I have the Yosemite system.

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

You can try downloading VLC player is plays pretty much all video formats
