I am using MAX OS-X Yosemite and having trouble with scanning. Brand new HP 8610 all in one does everything but scan. When first installed it worked and then over night it quit. Latest driver installed. Any help here?

Try deleting and re-Adding the printer in Print & Scan prefs.
It will be more reliable long-term if you go into your router's admin web page and Reserve the IP address for the printer
I have deleted and added the printer 10+ times. I was on the phone with HP for over 2 hours. I would like to try your suggestion. How do I do go to the admin web page and reserve the IP address?
That depends a little on which router you use.
For my Netgear, I use a browser like Safari, and go to the router's address (usually 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1 if you haven't changed it from factory default).
There, I have to enter the username and password that router manual says - for example: admin and 1234.
Then in the menu, I have "Advanced > LAN IP setup" where I can make the current IP (or any other if I wish) to be permanent.
If you look in your Applications/Hewlett-Packard it there an app called HP Scan? Also open the Application/Image Capture and see if the Scanner is shown under Shared.
I had the same issue…..scanning through the Applications/Hewlett-Packard/HP Scan couldn't locate the printer. I went back into the HP site and downloaded the updated firmware for the printer, and all is good!
