I have updated the new version of Itunes and now it does not recognize my phone? Never had issue prior to upgrading to 12.1..Any tips on how to sync phone with itunes

I have this same problem. Since updating to iTunes 12.1, the program doesn't recognize either of my iPhones. I have tried the suggestions from the article, but they do not fix the issue. When I plug the phone into my computer, there is no icon or anything that shows I have a device attached. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
