Upgrading RAM in iMac 2011

Can I remove the existing 2x2GB RAM, swap in the lower 2x4GB modules and put in two 8GB in the two lower open slots? Have iMac 21.5", mid-2011 running ver.10.10.2, 2.7GHz Corei5, existing 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

If you have 2 x 4 GB modules in the lower, no need to switch them - just replace the 2 x 2 GB with 2 x 8 GB; note that officially, only a total of 16 GB is supported, but OWC has tested the model with 32 GB:
