Upgrading the graphics card

Hi,

I wondered if it was worthwhile, or even possible to upgrade the Graphics Card on my 2010 MacPro?

I use it for a lot of Video Editing (After Effects)

The model is a Mac Pro "Twelve Core" 2.66 (2010/Westmere)

Thanks

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Hello, do you ever use this function?

Optional: Adobe-certified GPU card for GPU-accelerated ray-traced 3D renderer

If so and you spend a lot of time or make money using it, it likely would be if you can get one of these cards...

Mac OS

  • GeForce GTX 285
  • GeForce GTX 675MX
  • GeForce GTX 680
  • GeForce GTX 680MX
  • GeForce GT 650M
  • Quadro CX
  • Quadro FX 4800
  • Quadro 4000
  • Quadro K5000

The following NVIDIA GPUs are supported in After Effects CS6.

Mac:

  • GeForce GTX 285
  • GeForce GT 650M*
  • Quadro FX 4800
  • Quadro 4000

Wish I had read you first but none-the-less I have a flashed GTX 980 coming for my MP 5,1 and can't get the latest Nvidia driver to install because my OS X build is newer than their driver.

I did read that it would boot without startup screen which is no problem for me.

I assume I'll have to wait on Nvidia to update the driver for full functionality.

What is your wisdom about this?

Can I expect "native Yosemite drivers" to be forthcoming from Apple or just a dream?

Thanks
