What to do with files before upgrading RAM on Late 2008 Macbook Pro 15inch?
I want to upgrade to 8GB. After upgrading from OS 10.6 to Yosemite my laptop has been really slow. I've got design programs etc in my computer.
I've backed up my usual files but not the applications. Do I have to reinstall everything after removing my x2 1GB?

Memory upgrades do not do anything to files or apps. Software upgrades do, if the older apps are not upgradable for the Operating system you go to.
Thanks Niel & my ginger. I've backed up everything. So all I need to do is buy the x2 4GB memory and install.
