How to reinstall OS after hard drive upgrade?
I Just installed a new hard drive and RAM on my MacBook 2010 white. I have the original OS disc but don't know how to install it (no instruction booklet). Any tips on what to do? Please and thanks

Insert the disk, restart with the C or Option key held down, and follow the onscreen directions. You may need to use the Disk Utility to reformat the drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) with the GUID partition table format.

Put the install DVD into the optical drive and start with the C key depress to start up from the optical drive. Then follow the directions.
Thanks Niel. I was able to get it running but then it did not recognize my new drive (Crucial MX200 SSD). Apparently it's not initialized and I was told I have to remove it, connect it to an outside source with an OS and format it that way. I may have to return it to MicroCenter but I don't want to drive back there. Any suggestions or is that my only course of action? Thoughts?
Resetting NVRAM could solve the problem.
