new service provider. apple id updated but iPad has "find my iPad" enabled and keeps asking for old apple ID

I recently changed my service provider so I had to update my Apple ID with the new email address. I have managed to update all my products except my iPad 2. I have "find my iPad" enabled and cannot disable it as it wants my old Apple ID. Anyone know how I can fix this?
