It is easier and cheaper to use a wireless router as a wireless to ethernet bridge.. Just buy a suitable router.. if your network has apple router now.. grab the cheapest second hand Airport Extreme or express.. and that will work better than internal wireless card.
I have a PC type network with a 54G ATT modem/router combo. I wondered if the extreme airport card (54G or better) would work with the OS/hardware in the Quicksilver or if only the 802.11B would fit the motherboard slot. I want to use the airport card.
The problem you have with old equipment is the lack of support for later security.. B wireless cards will not support WPA security.. and I strongly recommend people use at least WPA and WPA2 now.
That is why using external wireless bridge plugged into the ethernet is simpler.. cheaper and far more secure.
No doubt you can buy a wireless card but the problem is the drivers.. and the lack of suitable secure connection.
