Hi,
I want to take my iMac 27" with me in an international trip as I am moving. Is it safe to put a it in the original box and check it in with the luggage?
How can I insure it against loss or damage? Which insurance company do you recommend?
Or should I sell it and buy another one when I get to my destination even if it is going to cost me more?

It should be safe in the original box but it is hard to say as far as shipping and how your box will be treated. Take it to Ups and but the Insurance through them and if that doesn't work out for you try Fed Ex and do the same.

I would not take it with me in the luggage department - that is not safe. Shipping it with plenty of insurance would be better - you can go to a shipper and ask about the cost and insurance to make a decision. Or, if you are moving and shipping other goods, you can include it with them.

I am going to put it inside another box to protect the original box. But I am not sure from where to get the luggage insurance.

Well, the cost of shipping will be too high.
Are you aware of any one whom I get my checked in iMac insured with.

No, unfortunately I do not; if you have home owners insurance, they might cover the traveling part.
