contacts right hand side alphabet list appeared

Iphone 6: when i used to go to contacts, i could type in the letters and the predictive list comes up to find the contacts matches.

Now, i cannot type in the letters so the predictive list doesn't comes up. so i can't find the contact.

Currently, when i go to contacts, recently appeared is an alphabet list on the right hand side and i have to scroll through. this means i need to know what the contact starts with.

how do i get it back to the old way? pls help? Thanks.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.3

Are you saying that there is no Search window at the top of the screen when you open your contacts at the list level?

Hi GB

the issue is that the contacts search window is open but the keypad doesn't appear so you can't type in any letters.

problem is since resolved with turning phone on and off (repeatedly...)

If it happens again, do a reset (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the reset is complete the Slide to Unlock screen will reappear. This will oftentimes clear up odd issues with your device.
