Scanner Issues

Hi I have a canon MG2460 Printer scanner which I am running on my Macbook Pro

Printing functions work fine, however I cannot scan from either Image Capture or Canon IJ Scan Utility2

I have to turn off printer and unplug to even get either of the programs to register the printer.

When I click overview in Image Capture it tells me, scanner is warming up and then that its overviewing scan. This is all it will do. The unit itself with do nothing except for a bit of wirring noises to begin with, the light/scanning bar will extend maybe a cm or so then go back and Image Capture will display Overviewing scan until I shut it all down.

Similar things happen if I try Canon IJ, except one it starts to scan it will just display Scanning Do not open document cover. But nothing else will happen.

I have all the latest updates I can find on both Yosemite and Canon.

Any help would be great as I really do need a scanner
