My imessaging is not working and I've tried everything to fix it. I'm not even able to sign in to my Apple ID! Any reason why this is and how I can fix it?

I've tried eveything to fix my iMessage and nothing is working. I can't even log onto my Apple ID. This only happened after the update and started occuring about an hour ago. Any idea on what's wrong and how to fix it?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.1.3

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
