Can i delete my contacts from my sons ipad?

Hi,

My son has an ipad mini 2 which i set up with my icloud account. I have since set him up with his own icloud account and have deleted mine from his ipad and deleted my contacts.I

If i go into his contacts list it is empty but if i go into messages all my contacts appear there. How can i delete them?
