delete audio books from ipod nano

I am trying to select downloaded books from our library which are in "Music" on my IPOD Nano (I think 7th generation) . I have previously done it according to directions to go to devices

but it does not work any longer. Could it be the version of ITUNES? I use a MACBook Pro - with 10.6.8 operating system. I have gone to our local library for help and they are stymied as well.
