I cloud account user name. I want to change my icloud accoutn name. I fI close my connection to I cloud it tells me I will lose documents loaded to I cloud on my desktop. Will I lose everything like my calendar and contacts?

I cloud account user name. I want to change my I cloud account name. If I close my connection to I cloud it tells me I will lose documents loaded to I cloud on my desktop. Will i lose everything like my calendar and contacts? I need to change my name on all my tools - I phone, Airbook, andI Mac. Any tips, caveats?
