Help needed getting Airplay working on 2012 Mac Air running 10.7.5

If anyone can lend a hand here, much appreciated. I have a 2012 Mac Air running 10.7.5 and I recently bought an Apple TV and I can not get Airplay to show up or even see if on my machine. It falls within the dates that it should support it, but it's not on here that I can find. Any suggestions or am I missing something here? Thanks

Open iTunes and turn on "Home Sharing" and do the same on the Apple TV.

Thanks. I did have home sharing off on my Mac Air, turned it on and no go still. Sharing is already turned on the Apple TV.
Any other thoughts? I did restart my computer and also turned off & back on the apple TV and no go.
