I'll need some help fixing this, as I am not a developer in any way, and don't have much experience with macs.
So my question is, is there a way to fix it without bringing it for repairs?

Did you click on the link provided by Paul_31? His replay was not a question but a link to possible solutions.
Generally, what you are seeing indicates that there is no startup drive connected to the Macintosh or your drive has problems. Review the advice in the link provided by Paul_31.

I tried it, but I still have a major problem, when I hold down the Option key, nothing happens, I just get a cursor which I can move up or down.
Sounds like your hard drive may have died.
Do you think there is any way to fix it?
You can have the hard drive replaced. Is there an authorized Apple service place near you?
Also, do you have a backup of the internal drive? If not, it's something to start doing once you get your iMac back up and running. It's also helpful to have an external drive around with an OS installed that you can boot from if there is a problem with your internal drive. It is easier to run Disk Utility and some other repair tools from a different drive than your main system disk.
I don't need to keep all my stuff on there, I just want my iMac to work.
