ios 8.1.3 issues?

I recently updated my iOS to 8.1.3 (I generally wait for updates to various bugs--so I was on a version iOS 7).

I found the recent update has made my iPad VERY slow.... crashing some apps at times--it's aggravating to the point of me using my old laptop because it's quicker.

I wasn't even able to update my iPhone 5 (maybe a good thing!) due to memory issues--never had an issue with upgrading iOS before. Sorry I'm a bit of a dummy when it comes to these technical things which is why I got an iPhone.

How can I fix this both on my iPad. If I manage to fix the memory issues on my iPhone will I have the same issues as with my iPad?
