Mar 6, 2015 3:11 AM in response to georgewengerby Bengt Wärleby,Hi
A. The way to Export from FinalCut matters.
- As QuickTime ONLY - NO QuickTime CONVERSION !
B. When You start iDVD - SET UP a 16x9 project - From Start ! (first or second window at start-up) - DO NOT USE an old project = iDVD BUG will hit in.
C. There is one more place in iDVD to keep set to 16x9 - PROJECT INFO. Keep an eye to this as when changing theme this can default to 4x3 and in need to be corrected.

Mar 7, 2015 10:01 AM in response to georgewengerby Bengt Wärleby,BEFORE YOU BURN YOUR DVD !
Please make a DiskImage and test this first. If it behaves strangely the DVD will so too.

Mar 8, 2015 2:08 PM in response to Bengt Wärlebyby georgewenger,I have made the new project and tried to do the Diskimage and now I am coming up with a Multiplexer Error that sayes (there was an Error during Layerbreaking handling before formatting) I even tried to start over and changed themes and it still came up with the same Error . Any ideas? -
Mar 10, 2015 4:09 AM in response to georgewengerby georgewenger,Ok I finally got past the Error as I went back and re exported a new file and new dvd project and then made a disc image and it worked all except it is still 3 x 4 ?? I am getting frustrated. :-)

Mar 10, 2015 4:49 AM in response to georgewengerby Bengt Wärleby,Hi
Can You Please try. Exactly
- Create a new iDVD project
OBSERVE the 16:9 format low in this window
Then OK
NOW - do not change THEME just add Your movies
See that under Project Info - it looks something like this
WideScreen still 16:9
NOW - Save as a DiskImage (File down to second from bottom)
Test this
Doesn't this work ?
If still 4x3 - then Trash iDVD pref file - re-try
If still not working - Re- install iDVD

Mar 14, 2015 9:28 AM in response to georgewengerby Old Toad,You won't have to trade the iDVD application. I've never seen a case where it got corrupted and had to be reinstalled.
Here's how to delete the iDVD preference file and caches:
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents of IDVD'S cache folder: User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you're running Mavericks or Yosemite go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Mar 14, 2015 5:12 PM in response to Old Toadby georgewenger,Ok I done what you said but still no luck, it looks good in final cut express but after exporting it changes. To my knowledge I haven't made any changes or upgrades of any kind and my last project worked fine. Any more suggestions? This has been a real challenge!

Mar 15, 2015 8:32 AM in response to georgewengerby Old Toad,No more suggestion from me. Bengt is more versed in aspect ratio (and FCE) than I. I use stills in my iDVD slideshows.

Mar 15, 2015 10:55 AM in response to Bengt Wärlebyby georgewenger,Ok I have done everything except trash iDVD as i am unsure of how to reinstall as I don't think I have a reinstall disc. but nothing seems to make a difference, I even tried to do a QT conversion but still the same thing. Do i through the computer away and go with a pc LOL

Mar 15, 2015 11:01 AM in response to georgewengerby Old Toad,Do you have Time Machine set up and working? If so you can go to the Applications folder, enter TM, go back in time some ways and restore iDVD (select the option to keep both versions) and give it a try.
Have you tried a movie from a different source with iDVD? Like a slideshow exported from iPhoto at 480p?
