Ipad2 broken after ios 8.1.3 upgrade

After upgrading to 8.1.3 my IPAD2 displays the 30-pin connector image and the iTunes icon. That means that something has gone wrong with the upgrade process. iTunes says that I have an IPAD2 to be recovered!!! Nothing more to say. I'm now trying to recover it via iTunes...BE CAREFUL THEN!!!

Yes, I've stopped the recovering process via iTunes; I've also done some reset holding the two buttons down with no result. I'd like to know if this this is a known issue because it is really a big one! What I saw during the upgrade process was the verifying update message for a long time the the Ipad rebooted directly with the iTunes message. My feeling is that the Ipad is really gone. Any help is indeed appreciated. This is also a warning because it is the first upgrade after many that went wrong. Thanks
